Grand Knights Message
September 2026
Frank Tansey, Grand Knight

Dear Brother Knight, Sister Columbiettes, Family, and Friends,

I hope that all of you have been enjoying the summer and it has been restful, replenishing and fun. As the days grow shorter and the heat slowly wanes, we at Stolzenthaler are just warming up for our Season of Giving. In the Fall we really gear up with our event schedule and fund-raising opportunities in order to continue to give to our charities and support those in need. Our C & B Program has gotten off to a strong start. We were able to send up approximately 87 chance books up to Villa Roma for the Quick Draw Raffle Drawing. More continue to come in for the Early Bird Drawing on 9/26/26. I encourage you to send in your books if you have not done so already, and if possible, take more for yourselves or to sell. A good portion of that money comes back to our council, and the portion that goes to the state goes to very worthwhile charitable endeavors, as it does at the council level. I will have chance books with me at every meeting and function.

On Friday July 17th we gathered for one of the marquee events of not only the summer but of our whole Columbian Year- Steak and Cigar night. We had a little over 100 men and a few ladies this year who came out to enjoy a Manhattan Steakhouse worthy dinner, hand rolled cigars and a dessert straight from Naples Italy! A Special Thanks to Brother Joe Barbieri for the acquisition of those scrumptious steaks as well as cooking them to perfection! It was a great night and a huge success! I would like to recognize and thank its coordinator Faithful Guard Sal Curto and his co-coordinator PGK Dennis Maragliano. They worked very hard to make the event the success it was, once again. A grand event like that requires many hands to make it all possible, from kitchen crew to wait staff. I would like to thank all who participated and worked so hard:

***Joe Barbieri, Rich Scalise, Joe Vigiani, Steve Burgerella, Kevin Marshall and our wonderful wait staff: Heather, Christopher, Nick and Anthony.

On Saturday August 29th we will once again close our summer season with the Annual Billy Caputo Memorial Family Picnic on 12p-5p. It’s a great day to get together and celebrate another year of working together in the spirit of charity, unity and fraternity at a great picnic in our beautiful picnic grounds. This year’s will be extra special with the addition of a whole hog roast with special thanks to Joe Barbieri for making it all possible. We have another special addition in store with live music and Karaoke courtesy of Crystal Image!! It’s going to be a fun-filled and musical afternoon of American Idol- Stolzenthaler Edition!!

A solemn and beautiful event is coming up next month- our Combined Installation of officers for both the Knights and Columbiettes on Sunday 9/13. The day starts with mass being celebrated by our own Chaplain Fr Patrick Anthony at 3pm in the hall followed by the Installation of the Officers of both the Council and Columbiettes. Afterwards we will enjoy Sunday Supper together. Everyone is invited and welcome. The event is free to attend all I ask is that you RSVP to myself in advance so that we can accommodate one and all.

On a more personal note, we received word that Brother Chris Conheeney’s wife had suffered some complications from a back procedure and spent 67 days in the ICU! She has recently been downgraded to a regular room in preparation to enter a rehab facility in order to resume her previous level of function with her eyes towards her love-filled home. Please keep our brother, his wife and family in our thoughts and prayers that she continues her courageous battle to resume the joy filled life she had been enjoying before this setback.

Thank You All for Your Continued Support and Spirit of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. VIVAT JESU!

In Fraternity,
Frank Tansey Grand Knight
