Dear Brother Knight, Sister Columbiettes, Family, and Friends,
“Each year, Lent offers us a providential opportunity to deepen the meaning and value of our Christian lives, and it stimulates us to rediscover the mercy of God so that we, in turn, become more merciful toward our brothers and sisters. In the Lenten period, the Church made it her duty to propose some specific tasks that accompany the faithful concretely in this process of interior renewal: these are prayer, fasting and almsgiving.” -Pope Benedict XVI
The Holy Father reminds us that Lent is an opportunity to deepen the meaning of our Christian values, it is also a time for us to deepen our Columbian values of Charity, Unity and Fraternity towards each other, our community and towards God’s Holy Church. It is an historic and exciting time within our Church and our Council, and I couldn’t be happier than to share it with you.
On February 15, 2025 we held our 112th Charter mass at Our Lady Help of Christians. I would like to thank everyone that attended. The Pastor of the parish, Fr. James Ferreria has transferred into our Council. Please give Father a warm welcome.
On February 23, 2025, the Night at the Races was held. It was a great success we had 150 people attend. Frank Corvino, PGK and, Bobby Benoit, PGK, MC, and the numerous volunteers (the list is too long - I would need another page) were excellent. Everyone had a great time.
This year we will not be marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Forest Avenue and there will be no party after the parade. The Staten Island Right to Life League is sponsoring a Motorcade for Life Honoring St. Joseph & St. Patrick leaving at 2PM on Sunday March 2nd, from St Rita’s Church, at 281 Bradley Ave. Please see the flyer for further details.
