Grand Knights Message
September 2025
Cesare Lucido, Grand Knight

Dear Brother Knight, Sister Columbiettes, Family, and Friends,

Independence Day is celebrated in many ways throughout the United States, from backyard barbecues to festive parades. Our council proudly continued its tradition of marching in the oldest parade in America—the Staten Island Travis Fourth of July Parade. The enthusiasm of both the marchers and the spectators created a truly patriotic experience that everyone should take the time to enjoy. Patriotism is the fourth degree of our Order, and marching together with our Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes reinforced not only our pride in country but also our gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy. We are truly blessed to live in the greatest country in the world!

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sal Curto and co-chairman Dennis Marigliano for organizing our 2025 Steak and Cigar Night. A huge thank you goes out to our amazing kitchen staff and cooking team—Rich Scalise, Dan DiLauro, Joe Viggiani, Joe Barbieri, and Frank Tansey. Their outstanding teamwork allowed nearly 100 steak dinners to be plated in under an hour—an incredible accomplishment that did not go unnoticed. Special recognition goes to DGK Frank, who helped to secure our cigar rollers, adding an extra touch that made the evening even more enjoyable. I also want to acknowledge our dedicated wait staff, who worked tirelessly to make sure every guest was taken care of throughout the night. Their efforts were truly appreciated. Thank you as well to Kevin Marshall for managing the bar and keeping everyone’s glasses full, and to Joe and Vicky for their help in running the 50/50 raffle. Most importantly, thank you to all who participated, supported, and attended. It’s because of you that this event was once again such a memorable success. Please mark your calendars—our 2026 Steak and Cigar Night will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026. I look forward to seeing you all there!

“A Knight in Philly” was a great success, thanks to the hard work of so many people. Special thanks to DGK Frank Tansey for chairing the event. The Philly cheesesteaks were delicious and cooked to perfection by Rich Scalise, Joe Barbieri, Frank Ligamarri, and Dom Scotto. A big thank you also goes to Kevin Marshall for tending the bar and to our outstanding wait staff—Heather Scalise, Nick Barbieri, and Alex Ericson—for their excellent service throughout the evening.
